DuPage PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter)
Once each month St. Paul members staff the local overnight shelter held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in downtown Wheaton. Volunteers prepare and serve an evening meal, morning breakfast and sack lunches for guests to take when they leave the shelter. We also set up the sleeping accommodations and provide staffing for the overnight hours.  Interested in helping? Each Monday through Friday we offer our building’s lower level so that ESSE can provide a safe, nurturing environment for older adults to participate in cognitive and physical activities throughout the day while caregivers receive the much needed respite they deserve. Each Thursday Pastor Jared offers an informal worship experience for the program participants. Volunteers to lead or share in activities with the                                                      ESSE guests always are welcome. PRC (Peoples Resource Center)
St. Paul has been an active partner with PRC since its founding in 1975 and St. Paul members continuously have sat on the PRC board. We share the lower level of our building with ministries provided by both PRC staff and St. Paul volunteers. In addition to providing space for important ESL classes, we also host PRC Computer Lab Classes at St. Paul.  These classes, held on Saturday mornings, as well as Monday and Tuesday evenings,                                                       include basic computer, a rigorous 12-week Microsoft certification course, and GED preparation classes.                                                            These classes are life-changing for all involved. In the summertime we also partner with PRC for a  vegetable                                                     garden to provide produce for their food pantry. Each week St. Paul members donate non-perishable food                                                          items that are delivered to the food pantry weekly. Contact Kim Hollahan who sits on the PRC Board and can                                                    help you navigate how to volunteer to assist with classes, the food pantry or many other areas of support                                                            needed.
