Worship and Music Minutes March 9, 2008 Present: Pr. Eastman, Carl Heine, Pat Pape, Marilyn Sodergren, Marilyn Dashiel, Maureen Hickey, Mary Frank, Bob Miller, Barb Deli, Helen Sinclair Minutes of February 10th approved.. Devotions were led by Mary Frank. Music–Carl Heine: The adult forum sessions on learning the Liturgy of Joy in the ELW are going well and will be put into the liturgical rotation. We usually use one form of liturgy for at least three weeks. Carl gave the committee information on the music for Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. Easter will feature the Liturgy of Joy, an African-American setting. Bob Miller–Council report: It was discovered that the incorporation of St. Paul had been overlooked at the five year renewal date and needed to be taken care of. A lot of other discussion but no other actions taken. Pastor Eastman: Discussed taking care of details for Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. Pastor talked about the Liturgy of Joy and the fact that it is different from what we are used to. Pastor also asked the committee to think about the following: In our desire to be inclusive do we have the right to pick bits and pieces of others cultures and incorporate them into our familiar services? How should we express diversity? Why do we do what we do in liturgy? Who plans the worship? We need to stretch ourselves in this faith community. There are no easy answers but we do have an unique possibilities in our St. Paul community. Maureen Hickey brought a copy of the Easter ad Darla Moore put together for newspapers. Darla’s work on communications for Worship and Music is very much appreciated. Pat Pape went over needs for the Palm-Passion Sunday and also Easter Sunday with the committee. Assignments were made. We will be using the Good Friday liturgy from the ELW, which will include procession of the cross and adoration of the cross at the end of the service. .People can bring burdens, prayers etc. while kneeling or standing before the cross before leaving church. submitted by Barb Deli
