Music at Saint Paul

Musical Reality

It takes visitors to St. Paul several weeks to form a true picture of the musical breadth underlying St. Paul's worship.  From one Sunday to the next, the music selection may be a varied as a Gospel Blues service, a Baroque cantata or a Caribbean Mass.  There are traditional or contemporary services to choose from:  the reality is a blending of styles and renewal.  Music is valued as a means of God's spirit, contributing to a fresh worship experience each week.  St. Paul is richly blessed with resources for music-making: from a 55-rank Skinner pipe organ to digital workstations, with numerous performers of all ages who share their talents to the glory of God.  The sound of worship spans several centuries, sometimes in the same service, giving God's people many expressions of praise.

Musical Opportunities

Our heritage of choral and instrumental music continues to develop under the direction of our accomplished music staff.

Carl Heine:

  • directs the Senior Choir for high school through adult singers.

Michelle Harvey, directs:

  • Jubilation, the handbell choir for adults, starting with high school,
  • Reverberations for grades 5 t0 8.

Each group involves volunteer singers and players in weekly rehearsals and Sunday performances, combining musical training within the framework of wide-ranging repertoire and active fellowship.  Rehearsals are Wednesdays; new members are always welcome.  Instrumentalists young and old are encouraged to participate as well.
