Council Meeting Minutes
June 5, 2005
Excused: Craig Dickson, Pr. Hooper, Pr. Eastman excused at 12:15 p.m.
Craig Ellinghausen opened the Council Meeting at 11:23 a.m. We agreed to end the meeting at 12:30 p.m.
Ron Diener moved to hire Cara Simpson for a ten hour Youth Leadership position. Ginny Harms seconded. Motion passed.
Pr. Eastman recommended the Council re-commission the Stephen Ministry. There is support for the ministry from the survey and there are two trained leaders, Dave Harms and Vanda Marsh that could begin. In addition there are approximately eight members ready to be re-commissioned. There would be little or no start-up costs this year but next years training costs would be around $2,000.
Pr. Eastman moved to re-commission the Stephen Ministry. Kevin Dixon seconded. Motion passed.
Bob Miller brought up the need for publicity. This will be the responsibility of JoAnn Carlson and the leaders.
Pr. Eastman moved to increase the hours of Cherie Schumm from twenty to twenty-five hours per week. Bob Miller moved to modify the last motion to increase the hours of Cherie Schumm from twenty to twenty-five hours per week retroactive to June 1st and subject to the congregations approval. Ron Diener seconded. The motion passed.
Pr. Eastman moved to have the Council act to increase the hours of Cherie Schumm from twenty to twenty-five hours per week retroactive to June 1st, rather than bringing the motion to the congregation for approval. Ron Diener seconded. The motion failed.
Bob Miller presented and explained a chart depicting the demographics of the survey. He reported the cost of an outside analysis of the survey to be about $150/hour or an estimated $3,000. Ron Diener concurred the cost of $150/hour from the Alban Institute for an independent analysis.
Ron Diener moved to request a proposal from the Alban Institute and the alternate analyst. Craig Ellinghausen seconded. Ron Diener modified the motion to request a proposal from the Alban Institute and the alternate analyst to gather the top ten themes under the categories of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats and we will seek congregational approval to spend up to $4,000. Mark Disbrow seconded. Motion passed. Mark Disbrow will write a proposal for the analysis.
Ron Diener moved to adjourn and Mark Disbrow seconded. Meeting adjourned at 12:33 p.m.
