Council Meeting Minutes
June 16, 2008
Present: Pr. Eastman, Pr. Williamson, Jim Baumgardner, Charlie Boone, Patty Fess, Bob Hein, Ann Holmstrom, Lisa Jackson, Gayle Meskimen, Bob Miller, Susan Mullinger, Nick Poulos and John Warbiany
Excused: Kevin Dixon
Charlie Boone, vice-president, called the meeting to order at 8:04 P.M.
Devotions-Jim Baumgardner
Approve Minutes
Nick Poulos moved and Lisa Jackson seconded to approve the council meeting minutes dated May 19, 2008. Motion carried. Nick Poulos moved to recommend for congregational approval the congregational meeting minutes dated June 1, 2008. Lisa Jackson seconded and the motion carried.
Sign-up for devotions and the letter for the Acts
Patty Fess circulated a sign-up sheet for the council members to choose a month to present devotions to the council and to write a letter to appear in the Acts.
Remembrance Fund request
Gayle Meskimen moved and Lisa Jackson seconded to approve the Remembrance Fund request for $1200 to purchase a digital drum set and an amplifier. Motion carried.
Description of Officers duties
Charlie Boone gave a brief description of each of the elected officers duties prior to the election. He also described the main responsibilities of the Executive Committee.
Re-elect the Treasurer
Ann Holmstrom agreed to stay on for an additional one-year term as Treasurer. Lisa Jackson moved and Gayle Meskimen seconded to re-elect Ann Holmstrom as Treasurer of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Motion passed.
Treasurers Report
Expenses are running very close to what we have budgeted. For May our income came in very close to what we have budgeted. Year to date we are $62,000 less than expenses. BOB has been right on target. Nick Poulos moved to accept the Treasurers report. Jim Baumgardner seconded and the report was accepted.
Election of Officers
Pr. Eastman presided over the elections. Lisa Jackson moved to elect Gayle Meskimen for President, Charlie Boone for Vice-President and Patty Fess for Secretary of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Jim Baumgardner seconded and the motion passed.
Pr. Eastman thanked out-going President Kevin Dixon for the contributions he brought to council including the review process, Strategic Plan and his knowledge of the constitution. She then offered a motion of thanks for Kevin and Charlie Boone seconded. Motion carried. She also offered a motion of gratitude for out-going council members Carlo DAgostino and Bob Miller, with seven years of service. John Warbiany seconded and the motion carried.
Pr. Eastman is planning an installation of officers and council members at a Sunday service and will email those involved to obtain a date for the installation.

Date for next council meeting
Charlie Boone moved for the council not to meet in July and for the next meeting of the council to be in August. Lisa Jackson seconded and the motion carried.
Board Celebrations and Concerns
Jim Baumgardner has contracted for new blinds in the Choir Room and is bidding to enclose an area in the Youth Room for a closet. He reported that all leaks seemed to be plugged and we had no leaks of water with the recent rains. We are getting two new gas ovens to sit side-by-side in the kitchen.
Lisa Jackson and Pr. Williamson reported the youth had raised $8,300, which is very close to their goal of $9,100. Vacation Bible School started today with forty-one children registered.
Pr. Eastman spoke on how the loss of electricity on Sunday had very little effect on worship.

Charlie Boone offered a closing prayer.
Adjournment
As there was no further business it was moved and seconded to adjourn. Meeting was adjourned at 9:02 P.M.
