Meet the pastor
Pastor Jared A. Olson (who also answers to PJ) was born and raised in the Chicago area. Pastor Jared comes from a line of strong Lutherans. He is the eldest son of a Chicago school teacher and hospital HR director. He has one younger brother, Jason. Jared has a civic pride toward the Chicagoland area like no other. He earned his bachelors degree in psychology from Dana College and his masters of divinity from LSTC in Chicago. He was ordained in 1998.
The Majority of Jared's ministry has taken place in Florida. He spent one year as an associate pastor in Naples, FL. After getting his feet wet Jared was called as a senior pastor at Hope Lutheran in PSL, FL. Here in 2004, the church was attacked by an arsonist and burned to the ground. Pastor Jared learned what it took to build a church, lead in a time of crisis and how true it is that the church is not the building but the people. Pastor Jared rounded out his ministry in FL by spending just over 3 years on the gulf coast in Bradenton, FL.
It was at Hope Lutheran Church that a pastoral friend introduced Jared to his wife, Anna. Anna and Jared have a little girl named Abigail Hope and an older daughter Chelsey Leigh. While Abby daily surprises, delights and maddens her parents, Chelsey is following the call of the Lord to ordained ministry. She is currently attending seminary at LSTC.
After so many years away Pastor Jared is thrilled to be "back home". He looks forward to combining his love of Jesus Christ, his passion for social justice and his love for Chicagoland by serving the people of St. Paul and the community of Wheaton for years to come.
