A VOLUME OF VERSE
by Frank Earl Herrick

There's a gentle something shining
In his face
Like the light of a refining
Inward grace!

Something most akin to sweetness
Shineth there
With a delicate completeness
Wond'rous rare!

There is a sincere expression
In his voice
That exalts the high profession
Of his choice!

He has zeal that does not tire
Or delay
And a spark of living fire
Night and day!

Like the freshness of the showers
On the lawn
And the dew upon the flowers
At the Dawn

There's a touch of Morning splendor
In his mien,
Kindly, pleasant, wholesome, tender
And serene!

And we love this little preacher
Of the Truth
With his kind and comely feature
And his Youth!
