women's retreat 2013 & 2014
1st Annual Women’s Retreat, June 26-29, 2013
Cathy Godfrey and Ann Alexander organized this outdoor retreat in beautiful Wildcat Mountain State Park in Wisconsin. Fourteen women camped (several first timers), kayaked the Kickapoo River (also several first timers) and hiked the park trails. Creative and delicious meals were cooked and shared right on the campsite---except for the last night pouring rain dash to a pizza place! The fun and fellowship far outweighed any mud or bugs. Lori Bateman received the Paddle Award for her paddling “skills,” having the most time spent in the water!
2nd Annual Women’s Retreat, June 18-21, 2014
Kim Diehl and Kim Vanderschaaf Hollahan organized this retreat along with our host, Meg Cook, in Apple Canyon Lake, Illinois. Eighteen women participated in this Experiential Retreat in which our home base was Meg Cook’s spectacular lake home. (A neighboring home was rented for additional bed space.) Daily group sessions were based on a book, One Day My Soul Just Opened Up by Vanzant, and included special prayers and joyful singing. Choice activities included yoga, walking, jewelry making, a trip to a winery, book discussion, games and great conversations. Cooking duties were divided and many wonderful recipes were shared. A day trip to Galena (30 minutes away) included a city tour, shopping and dinner out in small groups. Due to the record-breaking rainfall, we were unable to kayak or hike around the lake, but our spirits weren’t dampened. Cathy Godfrey was given the Paddle Award for being the only person to go in the water----great story involved, so ask for details!
